My 31 Day Challenge

Okay guys. I've really been slacking the past month or so with this whole blogging thing. Oops! Two days ago I decided I was sick and tired of how I felt about my looks. I want to change my lifestyle and become a healthier person. Imagine my surprise when I stepped on the scale and I was back at my highest weight!! I was beyond frustrated and disappointed with myself. Instead of wallowing in self pity, I decided to make a change.

My 31 day challenge can be changed to meet your needs. It simply consists of 10 fitness related goals you would like to accomplish. As you will see from my list in just a few moments, some will be more difficult and will take longer to complete. Some I can complete within a week, and others I can spread out or get done quickly.

Here are my fitness related goals:

  1. Drink at least 64 ounces of water a day.
  2. Run 100 miles
  3. Bike 100 miles
  4. Go 31 days without stepping on a scale.
  5. Do a 1 minute wall sit.
  6. Complete 3,000 fitness minutes.
  7. Do a 2 minute plank.
  8. Track my food for 31 days.
  9. Eat breakfast every day.
  10. Do push ups every day.

As you can see, some I can complete early and others I cannot. So far I am doing well. I already feel better and have more energy than I normally do at this time. Follow me on instagram at @sjomartin92 and use #sjm31daychallenge if you feel like joining me!

After a lovely rest day..

I decided to get back to the treadmill. I'm really glad I did. It was a great, no fantastic, run. I challenged myself through the entire fifty minutes. Now, I'm not going to lie, the last twenty minutes were downright awful. I now only have 85.6 miles left for my monthly challenge.. Which I am DEFINITELY going to reach because my boyfriend will pay for over half of my mini marathon entry fee!!

I'm getting very nervous about this mini! I run 6 days a week, try to watch my diet with occasional indulgences, of course, but I feel as though I've hit a wall around 5 miles. I do excellent on the treadmill but not necessarily outside.. I guess I just need to practice.

If you have any ideas PLEASE offer your ideas!

With love,
Samantha

Day 3

Today was an okay day. I started out with a run. After I decided to sleep in for an extra two hours.. lol I got almost four miles in (3.85 to be exact). I've realized my runs go better when I have a destination in mind rather than just when I run around town. I got to my goal spot, jamming to music in my head not out loud since my ability to breathe was slightly questionable.. :p  But I thoroughly enjoyed my run even though I had to finish sooner than I would have liked. :) I now only have 89.7 miles left in my #April100miles challenge.

Until next time,
Sam

Days 1 & 2

So I realized I never posted my run from last night. So, I'll post yesterday's and today's runs.

As I said yesterday, I started a challenge to run 100 miles in April. So far, I am right on track. Once I decided to do the challenge I figured out about how many miles I would have to run everyday, which came to about a 5k. Since I'm doing a mini marathon in exactly ONE month from today, doing a 5k every day, besides my long run, would probably be a good idea.

So, yesterday I ran 3.25 miles in 42:52. It was really difficult. The first mile was the worst, but as the saying goes, "Never judge a run by the first mile". I always take my phone with me and use Spotify and RunKeeper.  I like RunKeeper because every five minutes it will tell me how far I have run. This is nice when I'm struggling but want to keep on track to my goals. The weather was in the 70s, but there was no wind and it was humid making for a very hot and sweaty run.

Today marked day two of my 100 mile challenge. It went better than yesterday but was still hard. I ran 3.20 miles today in 41:58. My mile time was just a smidgen faster, even though I felt slower. About halfway through my run it started sprinkling and as soon as I got my 3.2 miles in and stopped, it started raining a little harder. Weather was perfect though and I'm glad I got my run in before 9am.

Until next time,
Samantha
